ABOUT THE BURSARY

Tomorrow Trust is a bursary organisation committed to ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds have access to quality education. We understand the importance of equipping young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to be future fit in an ever-changing world. By providing comprehensive bursaries, we are not only investing in their education but also in their personal growth and development. Our comprehensive bursary package not only covers university fees, accommodation, living expenses, textbooks, and equipment but also offers a range of unique services designed to empower our students. One of these services is our personalized one-on-one monthly psychosocial support. We believe that mental well-being is just as important as academic success, which is why our dedicated team focuses on providing guidance and support in this area. Additionally, our students have access to academic coaching and career guidance to help them navigate their educational journey and plan for their future. But it doesn’t stop there – we also offer monthly specialized holistic workshops that cover critical topics relevant to the working world and life in general. These workshops provide invaluable skills and knowledge that set our students apart from their peers. At Tomorrow Trust, we are committed to providing more than just financial assistance; we are devoted to empowering our students with the tools they need to thrive academically and personally.

Tomorrow Trust Undergraduate Bursary

This bursary opportunity is available to students who are currently in their final year of high school and those who are already enrolled in a public university in South Africa. The following requirements must be met:

1. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30.

2. Applicants must hold South African citizenship.

3. Applicants must be pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree or have plans to pursue one in 2025.

4. Applicants must be studying or intending to study at a public university in South Africa.

5. Students currently enrolled in university must have achieved an average score of 60% or higher in their most recent exams (mid-year or June).

6. Applicants with a household income below R650,000 are eligible to apply.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be completed on The Tomorrow Trust online application platform and submitted on or before 30 September to be considered for a bursary for next year.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

All documents provided in the application must be verified and and we require authentic evidence to be uploaded. Please ensure that the following documents are prepared for uploading when requested or attached to hardcopy applications:

  • Certified South African ID
  • Comprehensive academic record, including the most recent available results (June 2024 examination results or progress report)
  • Official Matric/NSC results if you have completed Grade 12, or final Grade 11 results and June 2024 report card for current Grade 12 students.
  • Provisional acceptance letter from a university if you are currently in the process of completing your matric.
  • Reference letter from a teacher, lecturer, mentor, or tutor.
  • Proof of income: The total annual household income will play a crucial role in the selection process. It is vital to upload proof of income for both parents (if applicable). This can include:
  • An affidavit from the parent(s) or guardian(s) stating that they are unemployed or self-employed. If they are self-employed, the affidavit must state their annual income.
  • Most recent audited financial statement or three months’ most recent bank statements if the parent(s) or guardian(s) own a business
  • SASSA letter stating the grants received in the household where applicable
  • Death certificate(s) if parent(s) are deceased
  • Letter from the court stating child support amounts if parents are divorced or an affidavit from the parent stating the child support amount received if parents are separated
  • A clear head and shoulders picture.

Tomorrow Trust Postgraduate Bursary

This bursary opportunity is available to students who are currently in their final year of study and planning to pursue a postgraduate degree in 2025. The following requirements must be met:

  1. Applicants must be between 18-35 years of age;
  2. Applicants must be South African citizens;
  3. Applicants must have at least 60% for Mathematics in Matric;
  4. Received an average of 60% or above for their undergraduate degree;
  5. First time studying towards a post-graduate degree;
  6. Students doing their 3rd year of their 4-year honours-level degree in 2024
  7. Must be a full-time student in 2024
  8. Must meet the financial qualification criteria – combined gross family income of up to R600 000 per annum; 
  9. Preference will be given to students as defined by the BBBEE Act
