23 Aug Boys Camp with Levi’s
Levi’s has supported our work over the years, and this year they offered an opportunity to groom our male learners and started the very first Boys Camp. Our Grade 8 and 9 male learners attended the three-day camp at the Kree Krans in the North West province, powered by Levi’s.
In many ways, a boy child’s behaviour is represented by his attitude that is shaped by his values, the way he views himself, and his surrounding environment. Many boys in our society lack basic self-discipline, self-respect and respect for others, role models and a sense of vision for their future. This reality creates young men with ill attitudes and behaviour in communities. Research shows that a boy child needs to get the much-needed grooming from a young age to develop the much-needed men our country need.
The objective of the camp was from a strong belief that building relationships and trust in a non-punitive environment can nurture long-lasting change as they focus on the attitude and values that lie beneath a boy’s problem behaviour.
Thank you to Levi’s team and everyone who was involved in making this possible. We are hopeful that initiative such as this one will continue to emerge to better serve a boy child in our country.
