It is without a doubt how monumental, and equally nerve-wracking the final year in high school is in our country. The amount of pressure from schools, parents, communities and even strangers in the streets can weigh heavily on every Grade 12 learner. As you may know, our senior programme starts from grade 8 in preparation of this highly anticipated stage in a child’s high school career. In 2022 we had sixty-two (62) learners studying towards their national senior certificate, supporting them in Mathematics, Physical sciences, Life Sciences and offering them digital integration, computer literacy, career development and psychosocial support to make them globally competitive.
Throughout the year we had our weekend classes, virtual and in person. We provided the learners with study materials, access to the internet for research purposes and psychosocial support to help them through the various emotions that may surface as they go through this stage in their young lives.
Viewing their baseline results from when they were first assessed in Grade 10 (2020) in comparison to their 2022 baseline results, they have increased from 55% to 58%. It is with pride to share that our Grade 12 learners took on the challenge and were victorious. Coming out on the other side of the finish line with an impeccable pass rate of 92%, 74,6% of them leaving their senior year with Bachelor passes and 12,6% with Diploma passes, topping the national rate of 80.1%.
Our Grade 12s proved to us that, no matter what circumstances you may come across, always make the best of the situation to get to the top. With having to adjust from 2years of having scheduled weeks of being in school, to going back to school fulltime with all your classmates, but still managed to come out at the top. We are super proud of all our learners, 2022 really has been one great year for the Tomorrow Trust.
