Ride Joburg is more than just a cycling event it’s a movement with purpose.
947 RIDE JOBURG 2026
Ride Joburg is Johannesburg’s premier mass-participation cycling event, bringing thousands of cyclists together to experience the city from a completely different perspective.
The 2026 event takes place on Sunday, 22 November 2026, with a major change to the race experience. For the first time, the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit will host the finish, giving riders the opportunity to cross the line on one of South Africa’s most recognised motorsport circuits.
The flagship 97km Road Race takes riders through the streets of Johannesburg, including sections of the iconic M1 Highway and other major city routes, before the final stretch leads into Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. Riders will complete a lap of the circuit before crossing the finish line. The route features approximately 1398 metres of elevation gain and eight water points.
For riders looking for a shorter challenge, the 35km Short Ride remains part of the 2026 Ride Joburg programme. The official route information lists the 35km distance with approximately 562 metres of elevation gain and water points along the route.
More than a cycling event, Ride Joburg creates a platform for community participation, corporate engagement, charity fundraising and social impact. Riders have the opportunity to represent causes close to them through charity teams, bringing together sport and purpose on the streets of Johannesburg.
For Tomorrow Trust, this creates an opportunity to turn the race into a journey with purpose through The Backpack Project.
Our riders will carry Tomorrow Trust backpacks during the race, representing the educational journey of young people from playground to professional. Through corporate partnerships, individual participation and donation drives, the campaign aims to raise 500 backpacks filled with educational resources for distribution to learners before the start of the 2027 school year.
The 2026 Ride Joburg experience extends beyond race day. Tomorrow Trust riders will participate in official outrides with Ride Jozi and ZWIFT as they train together, build community and prepare for the race. Riders will also wear CIOVITA Tomorrow Trust cycling jerseys, creating a visible team presence on the road.
Whether you choose the 97km Road Race or the 35km Short Ride, Ride Joburg offers an opportunity to challenge yourself, experience Johannesburg and contribute to something bigger.
The race has a finish line.
A learner’s journey does not.
Join Tomorrow Trust for the 2026 Ride Joburg and help us carry the journey from Playground to Professional.
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CIOVITA
THIS YEAR, TOMORROW TRUST IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH CIOVITA AS OUR OFFICIAL CYCLING KIT PARTNER FOR THE 947 RIDE JOBURG 2026.
CIOVITA is a South African cycling apparel brand with a strong focus on performance, design and the cycling community. Their custom cycling apparel offering supports teams, corporates, clubs and communities looking to create high-quality cycling kit.
Through this partnership, our Tomorrow Trust riders will take to the road in custom CIOVITA cycling jerseys as we build towards race day.
More than a cycling jersey, our kit will make the Tomorrow Trust team visible on the road and help bring our Backpack Project to life.
As our riders train, ride and raise awareness for education, the CIOVITA kit will represent the collective journey we are taking with the young people supported by Tomorrow Trust.
Tomorrow trust ride joburg campaign
Ride joburg with tomorrow trust
In 2024, Tomorrow Trust proudly participated in its very first Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg, giving cyclists the opportunity to ride under the Tomorrow Trust banner, and what a remarkable campaign it was.
This initiative was launched to raise vital funds in support of our mission of unlocking South Africa’s best tomorrow through holistic education today. And thanks to the incredible support of our community, it delivered beyond expectations.
A total of 78 cyclists took part in support of our cause, including individuals, corporate teams, and valued partners such as, Mimecast, Ory X, Takecare Clinic, Monocle, Linksfield Oncology, Doctors Nay and Piccolo Incorporated.
Through entry sign-ups, we were able to raise R195,000, while additional donations contributed a further R21,981 — bringing our total funds raised to R216,981.
This campaign not only strengthened our efforts in changing the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children through education, but it also brought together a passionate community committed to making a lasting impact.
