Unlock How It’sOk Supports Learners’ Mental Health

As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, Tomorrow Trust is proud to shine a spotlight on our partnership with It’sOk, an app designed to provide vital emotional support to learners. Cofounded by Cody Gordon and Michael Dukes, It’sOk aims to bridge the gap between emotional intelligence and education, offering a safe, accessible space for young people to better understand and manage their emotions. Since 2021, the app has reached over 760 learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12, helping them develop emotional resilience and strengthening Tomorrow Trust’s psychosocial support programme.

At Tomorrow Trust, we understand that education is about more than academic success, it’s about supporting the learners. Emotional well-being is central to our mission, and this partnership with It’sOk allows us to equip learners with the tools they need to navigate the emotional challenges they face, both at school and in life. Through the data gathered by the app, we’re able to tailor workshops and programmes to directly address the specific needs of our learners, from managing stress and anxiety to improving self-esteem and building resilience.

This collaboration has become a cornerstone of our approach to holistic learner support. By integrating technology with our psychosocial programmes, we are able to respond to the real needs of our learners. The insights we gather through the app inform our interventions, ensuring that we provide targeted emotional support that makes a genuine impact. Our goal is to ensure that every learner feels heard, understood, and empowered to face their challenges head-on.

As we honour Mental Health Awareness Month, this partnership serves as a powerful reminder of how essential it is to focus on the mental and emotional health of our youth. The collaboration between Tomorrow Trust and It’sOk is not just about emotional support; it’s about fostering a culture where mental health is prioritised, and where students are given the tools to thrive, both personally and academically.

“It’sOk was born out of the necessity to allow our youth to make mental health and wellbeing a daily focus. EQ is arguably the most important trait in terms of leading a successful, healthy and productive life. We spend so much time developing other important skills, but often miss the most important, our knowledge about our emotions and how we deal with them. That’s why we decided to build It’sOk for school students, because we believe that in order to create an emotionally healthy and productive society, the best time to start building positive wellbeing habits is when you are young. Schools that adopt It’sOk make well-being a daily focus in their schools and mental health becomes a lesson where students learn the importance of a daily focus on well-being. This is why Tomorrow Trust adopted It’sOk and why all Tomorrow Trust students have access to It’sOk. Tomorrow Trust is focused on ensuring that their students grow up to not only be able to exist in a modern society but also thrive. Part of thriving in a modern society is having a high EQ. Being partners with Tomorrow Trust over the past few years has truly been a fantastic experience for the It’sOk team. Seeing how the students consistently utilise the app and how the staff take full advantage of the data collected proves the focus Tomorrow Trust places on mental health,” Cody shares.

Together, we are committed to breaking the stigma around mental health, using technology to create a supportive and emotionally safe environment for our learners. With the continued success of this partnership, we look forward to impacting even more lives and ensuring that every learner has the emotional foundation they need to succeed in all aspects of life.
